The Super Important Stuff
Welcome to our home. We hope you enjoy your stay in beautiful Blue River. It is a truly magical place and we are thrilled to share it with you.
This is our family home, and while we are happy to have you as our guests, we ask that you please treat it kindly.
We do have a few non-negotiable “rules” that we request you follow.
-
Respect the Flora & Fauna
The area behind our home is National Forest Land. As such, it is home to abundant wildlife, including moose, bear, fox, birds, and many other creatures. DO NOT feed the wildlife - either on purpose or by accidentally leaving food outside. Once wildlife (and bear in particular) associate a home as a food source, they become a menace. It is not unheard of for bears to break into homes, cars, etc if they smell food. We do regularly see bears pass by at the back of the house near the hot tub.
To reduce unpleasant wildlife interactions, please take the following precautions:
-Clean grill after use
-Remove all food from picnic table, fire pit, hot tub areas immediately after you have finished eating.
-Be aware if you have the sliding door open, especially when preparing food or when you are not in the room.
-Do not leave food in your car.
-Absolutely no trash is to be placed outside. -Trash belongs in the can inside the garage and garage doors must be closed when you are not present.
Additionally, please use nearby trails rather than “bushwhacking” through the Forest land behind the house. (There are tons of trails nearby, which can be found on the All Trails app - or check out a few of our favorites listed in the binder). -
Blue River Dark Sky Ordinance
The town of Blue River is a designated Dark Sky community. This means no exterior lights on at night. Please make sure you have turned off all exterior lights prior to leaving or going to bed. Additionally, our HOA has a quiet ordinance from 10pm to 8am. If you are enjoying the hot tub or sitting outside, please keep conversation quiet between these hours and music turned down. Remember that sound carries in the mountains! Any fines assessed for disobeying these ordinances will be taken from your security deposit.
This also means you get some amazing views of the sky!
-
No Smoking
If you smoke outside (and because of our proximity to the forest, we encourage you not to), please extinguish anything you have lit and dispose of it properly. DO NOT throw butts or unextinguished items into the yard/forest!
-
No Ski/Snowboard Equipment in House
Please remove skis/snowboards/boots in garage and utilize the boot dryers, ski racks or workbench for drying and storage.
-
Lock Up!
Please lock all doors and windows when you leave the house.
-
Hot Tub
The hot tub jets and lights must be off and tub must be covered when not in use.
-
Delicate Plumbing
Do not flush anything except toilet paper in the toilets. Septic and sewer systems in the mountains are fragile.
